Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father help me to control my tongue. Forgive me of all the hurt that I have inflicted on others because of my inability to control my tongue. Check the condition of my heart Lord, humble me and see the wrong I do when I talk about others behind their back that is not lifting them up. Help me to understand Lord that ALL men were made in the likeness of You and for me to talk about their character flaws or shortcomings when I have my own to focus on, that I am really cursing You. Please forgive me Father. In Jesus Precious name I pray, Amen.

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing.
